Being Held

It was an ankle strengthening day. The legs proved themselves recovered and capable. As did the T- Mobile cell phone coverage. I visited Romsdalseggen, just above Åndalsnes. I traveled the easy route up. Many others joined my ride up.

While there I practiced sending loving kindness when I was tempted to judge.”I wonder where they’re from, how old are they, are they traveling companions or lovers, etc”. I replaced each thought with “I wish for you to be happy, I wish for you to be safe, I wish for you to be loved, etc.”

I observed two, no more than three, fellow solo travelers. The vast majority of the several hundred people I encountered on this day were at least my age, most likely older than I. Very few same sex couples mostly a man and a woman. They were in various levels of condition yet it seems to me they had a tenderness towards each other and the others they encountered. it occurred to me - they don’t need my message, I need theirs. They’re living their open hearted adventures

The night before, Maria Heart Song sang a receiving song about being held to me on a zoom call. The song played through my mind as I felt being held by Mother Earth and Father Sun. I just enjoyed being alive and I noticed many others doing that also.

It was good to be communing with nature amongst the humans today, after so much solitude. The above photo in the middle was the path we walked. A tiny bit of mud, mostly rock. Some quite steep.

The views were breathtaking.

When I got to the top by riding the sky lift, I noticed the same young military dressed men and women that I’d seen at breakfast who evedently had climbed the 900 meters strait up the rocks. Red faced yet elated they were celebrating their accomplishment. I saw a man hiking barefoot, a woman with a baby wrapped around her front, a woman with a toddler in a backpack, several dogs ( extra fairs of $7 to take you dog along on the sky lift.) I saw a man running full speed down the treacherous rock path, he appeared to be between 55 and 60. A shirtless hiker, probably 19, several toned and tanned youth but by far mostly retires. The oldest was in her nineties. She might have only ridden the sky lift and might not have climbed the steep boulders.

Again, no one was overly friendly but anytime I asked for help they eagerly exuded kindness. I might have saved myself years of suffering if I’d asked for what I wanted instead of expecting others to volunteer. Asking, without expectation, without being attached to the outcome, just allowing others to contribute what they will has resulted in magical wonders on this trip.

The cairns are plentiful. For the DNT Ts to many, many others.

In the first photo below you can see where I added the black stone on the upper left. The one that looks like a penguin.

I’m headed to the forest to spend some time in contemplation and some time hiking. It looks like someone is headed fishing.

I don’t think there is any Wi-Fi there and I hear the cell coverage is not good so don’t expect to hear from me before Friday.
